Ordway Center for the Performing Arts
The glamorous Ordway Center, with its expansive glass façade and dramatically curved interior staircase, is the jewel of St. Paul’s performing arts scene, staging a nonstop schedule of Broadway-style musicals, international music and dance, and educational programs. It houses two theaters: the 1,900-seat opera house and concert hall, and the more intimate 306-seat McKnight Theatre, which has a cabaret-like feel, with small tables just outside. The well-respected Minnesota Opera and Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra also call the Ordway home.
Tip: For the city’s best view of Rice Park (and thousands of twinkling white lights in winter), take your pre-show drink in the two-story foyer while gazing out the massive wall of more than 500 insulated glass panels.
